UNI Sep 14, 2017
AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan today demanded that the Medical Council of India (MCI) should institute an inquiry on the private medical colleges and Deemed universities which violated the orders of Supreme Court and the MCI while admitting students for first year MBBS last year.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan demanded a CBI probe to bring all the truth out, since, the incident of discharging 767 MBBS students had lowered the dignity of the Union Territory. He said irregularities are there in the admission process with the support of the administration resulting in the MCI issuing orders to discharge (remove) 767 MBBS students (second year now). The Chief Minister had stated that the government will not be responsible on the issue by any way and the private medical colleges will have to take care.
Mr Anbazhagan said the MCI issuing discharge order is a wrong deed for which the territorial administration should shoulder full responsibility and added taking the plight of the affected students into consideration, the government and Lt.Governor together should apprise the MCI the real facts and should resolve the issue in such a way that the students were not affected. The MCI should initiate action against the managements of the private/Deemed university medical colleges. At the same time, the future of the students should also be ensured, he added
