City hospital organises Masterclass Live Surgery

With an aim to impart knowledge and help practitioners in staying updated with the latest trends in Neurosurgery, Kolkata-based Medica Superspecialty Hospital organised the 9th Masterclass Neurosurgery Workshop and Live Surgery recently.
Senior Neurosurgeons from across the country took part in the conference on February 23 and 24 for the benefit of junior doctors and medical students. The event was attended by over 250 doctors from all over the country. The choice of operations, videos, lectures were in the field of skull base, vascular, CV Junction, spine and tumours, according to the hospital sources.
The live procedures as well as video-lecture sessions were conducted by guest faculties like Prof. Atul Goel (Mumbai), Dr. Suresh Sankhla (Mumbai), Dr. Paritosh Pandey (Bengaluru) and Dr. Lokendra Singh (Nagpur) among others. Consultants from Kolkata including Dr. L. N. Tripathy, Director, Medica Institute of Neurological Diseases & course convener, Dr. Harsh Jain and Dr. Sunandan Basu (host-faculty), Dr Sandeep Chatterjee, Dr P.R. Datta, Dr D.K.Pradhan and many more participated in the interactions.
Dr. Tripathy, also the senior Vice-Chairman and Director, Medica Institute of Neurological Diseases (M.I.N.D) said, “Neurosurgery is an evolving and dynamic area of expertise which demands doctors to stay updated with the advancements in order to provide the best quality care for all patients. These workshops are essential for the training of the next generation aspiring neurosurgeons who will carry the mantle forward.”
Dr. Alok Roy, Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals, congratulated the MIND team led by Dr. Tripathy and the team of masterclass neurosurgeons from all over India. "Live surgeries provided a real-time experience to us. The two-day workshop allowed us to exchange the thoughts and intuitive learning which will be beneficial for us in the coming years,” said a trainee, who witnessed the masters operating live.
