CBI books Directors and Medical Registars of medical colleges over admission scam
Times of India Jul 08, 2019
The CBI on July 6 booked the Directors and Medical Ragistars of four deemed universities and 3 private medical colleges in Pondicherry over criminal misconduct in admitting students into MBBS courses for the year 2016-17.
A statement released on July 5 mentioned that the private medical universities/colleges had denied admission to deserving candidates and instead admitted ineligible candidates by collecting extra fees. The institutions also failed to submit the final list of admitted students to the government and the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac). It is also suspected that health department officials are in understanding with these institutions.
Institutes under the scanner include Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Arupadaiveedu Medical College, Vinayaga Missions Medical College, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, and Venketswara Medical College and Research Centre.
