Botched eye surgeries: Doctor should be reinstated says Association of Medical Consultants

The Association of Medical Consultants (AMC), Mumbai a body of over 11,000 Indian doctors has demanded that the eye surgeon, Dr. Arun Chaudhari be reinstated.
The surgeon was terminated after 7 patients developed hospital-acquired infections post surgery at the HBT Trauma Care Hospital. One of the senior members of AMC, Dr. Lalit Kapoor said that honorary surgeons often work in unhygienic conditions and lack of protocols at civic hospitals. When things go wrong, they have to bear the brunt of it. Nearly 30 honorary doctors got together on February 18 to discuss this and take steps. They want the BMC to reinstate Dr. Chaudhari. Even though three inquiries have already been conducted, the doctors have demanded an independent a thorough investigation.
