Blood banks to be opened in seven more districts: Health Minister

Jharkhand's Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi on July 25 said blood banks would be soon opened in seven more districts of the state as order of supply of machines for these districts had been already issued.
Addressing the people after inaugurating the blood bank, Kangaroo Mother Care Unit, day care center and digital X-ray at the Sadar Hospital premises here he said with the start of the blood bank, blood would be immediately available to save many precious lives. Principal Secretary Health Nidhi Khare said that soon some other facilities would also be started at the Sadar Hospital.
She said the number of beds would be increased from 200 to 300 first and then gradually taken to 500 in the course of next six months and added that doctors would be able to perform any type of operation in the Sadar Hospital, including major surgeries, with the start of the blood bank.
CRPF IG Sanjay Latkar, who was also present on the occasion said that the jawans of CRPF were always ready to donate blood to save the lives of the people and would continue to do so in the future. He suggested that the hospitals of CRPF could also be used as a center for measles and rubella and advocated the need of starting telemedicine facility in the rural areas. On the occasion a total of 18 units of blood were also donated. Those who were also present in the occasion included NHM Director Kripanand Jha, CRPF DIG Rajeev Rai among others.
