Times of India Dec 24, 2018
A female doctor from Bengaluru was caught on December 20 and brought in for questioning, after news surfaced that she had conducted around 682 sex-change operations in the last three years.
The racket unearthed when the grandmother of a 16-year old boy filed a missing person complaint in February. Investigation and reports from a few locals revealed that the boy was last seen dressed as a woman at KR Pet Circle area. The boy when caught mentioned that he was initially made to disguise himself to beg for money, but in June, a transgender created a fake affidavit, claiming the boy was 19 years old, facilitating a sex-change operation. The boy was operated on by a female doctor in Bengaluru.
It was also found that the doctor was regularly performing such surgeries and charged up to Rs. 1.25 lakhs for each. When brought in for questioning, the doctor fainted. Police are seeking custody for questioning her once she recovers.
