Baby dies due to MR vaccine complication in Nagpur

A one-year-old girl died after being administered with measles and rubella (MR) vaccination at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur.
The baby was vaccinated at Tumsar tehsil’s Garra village on December 15, along with her four-year-old brother. As her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to general hospital at Bhandara, which further referred her to GMCH in Nagpur on December 16, where she succumbed on December 17 (Tuesday), sources said and informed that her death was due to complications developed post MR vaccination (revealed a diagnosis of gastroenteritis).
Meanwhile, her brother who was also admitted to the hospital was given discharge on December 19. Similarly, on December 7, an 11-year old girl, a resident of Lakhni tehsil of Bhandara, died following complications developed post MR vaccination, sources added.
