Allhd HC seeks UP Govt reply on retirement age dispute of PMS doctors
UNI Aug 23, 2017
Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court today sought reply from the Uttar Pradesh government within a week over the compulsory increase of retirement age of the PMS doctors.
The bench of Justices Narayan Shukla and Sheo Kumar Singh-I passed this order after hearing petitioner Dr R K Saini’s counsel Dr Nutan Thakur and the State government counsel. Ms Nutan informed the Court that on May 31, 2017 the State government raised retirement age of PMS doctors from 60 to 62 years, but an option was given for those who wanted to retire at 60 itself. Hardly a month later, on July 4, 2017 the Government removed the optional clause making the retirement age compulsory for all, which is not proper. The Court has asked the State government to clarify whether the changes made are in accordance with the Fundamental Rules. Later, the court fixed August 30 as the next date of hearing.
