Police on August 7 seized 280 bottles of cough syrup with high alcohol content and arrested one smuggler in this connection from Chandar Nagar under Chitragupta Nagar police station area in the district.

Police said here that acting on a tip off, raid was conducted at a hide-out in  Chandar Nagar, leading to seizure of 280 cough syrup with  high alcohol content from there. One smuggler Gulab Yadav was arrested in this connection during the operation. "Cough syrup with high alcohol content is being used as an alternative of liquor by addicts in dry Bihar", police said, adding that close vigil was being maintained 
on those engaged in smuggling of cough syrup. On the basis of lead gathered during interrogation of arrested smuggler, more raids would be carried out to nab ther culprits involved in the network, police further added.
