60% of cancer is preventable: Jammu’s Oncologist

A Jammu based Oncologist Dr Deepak Abrol on October 6 said that 60 per cent of cancer is preventable.



 

“It is important to aware the public that about 60 per cent of cancer is preventable and by adopting healthy life styles, leaving tobacco and controlling HPV and HBV through vaccination programs, one can reduce cancer load,” Dr Abrol, Convener of Crabecon Chaturth and CRABETHON-Teleoncothon here said while speaking at Live Cancer Awareness Workshop Crab-e-Thon and Chaturth Conference of Lajwanti Bhagat Nath Radiations Of Hope ‘CRABECON 2018’.

More than 50 Oncologists from all over India attending two-day conference deliberating on various topics of cancer Awareness. Dr Abrol added that it is for first time in World that a panel of experts are available round the clock for 24 hours at Stretch to answer questions of public and whole Globe is being connected on Cancer Awareness at Jammu.
He said people, organizations and groups have come forward to support this fund raising event for poor patients.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma and Prof Dr G K Rath, Head National Cancer Institute AIIMS, New Delhi, inaugurated an awareness workshop.

The Conference was held under aegis of Association of Radiation oncologists of India North Zone. The Divisional Commissioner in his address said that such kind of events should also be held in far removed areas and appealed Medical fraternity to work with missionary zeal for Cancer Patients.
