550 newly recruited doctors to join duties soon: Haryana CM

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today said that 550 newly recruited doctors would join their duties in the state soon.
The Chief Minister said more doctors are being appointed and those keen on serving the people of the state would be considered even if their applications are received without an advertisement put out by the Government.Stating this here, he said as per the World Health Organisation standard, one doctor was required for every 1,000 people. In proportion to the population, the state need 27,000 doctors but has only 12,000 doctors.
With a view to overcoming the shortage of doctors, medical colleges are being opened in various districts of the state. A medical college would also be opened in Gurugram at a cost of Rs 300-crore. Having 750 beds and 150 MBBS seats, it would be named after Sri Mata Sheetla Devi and would be developed by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) and Sri Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board.
The Chief Minister said while GMDA and MCG would share 40 per cent of the cost each, the Shrine Board would contribute 20 per cent. The construction work on the medical college would be completed by 2019.
