342 people fell prey to contagious diseases in Chattisgarh in 3 yrs

A total of 342 people died due to contagious diseases, including Swine flu, in Chhattisgarh over the last three years, the state Legislative Assembly was told today.
"As many as 5,78,175 people were admitted in hospitals due to contagious diseases from year 2015 to 2017 in the state. Out of them, 342 succumbed to the diseases," Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Chandrakar said in a written reply to a question raised by Leader of Opposition TS Singhdeo. The opposition leader had sought details of deaths caused by diarrhoea, malaria, swine flu and other seasonal contagious diseases.
"During this period, 2,10,515 patients of malaria were admitted in hospitals, of them, 131 died. Similarly, 549 swine flu patients were reported to have been admitted in hospitals of the state and of them, 121 died. Besides, 81 out of 3,63,605 patients of diarrhoea died in the last three years. Moreover, nine people died of different contagious diseases," as per the reply. Facilities of medical examination and medicines were provided in various hospitals for treatment and prevention of these diseases. Besides, activities like water purification, spraying insecticides and distribution of 48 lakh mosquito nets were also done, it said.
