21 new cases of Dengue, 1 Scrub typhus registered in HP

The Bilaspur district of Himachal and native place of Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda is currently reeling with large number of cases of Dengue and Scrub Typhus in Himachal as 21 and one cases of Dengue and one Scrub tyhpus was registered in the hill state.


The State Communicable Disease Surveillance Officer Dr Sonam Negi said that as many as 60 patients complained of viral fever in the state, out of which 21 were found positive for Dengue. He said with fresh cases the number of Dengue patients rose up to 376 on July 25  He said that so far, the department has conducted test on 1345 people, with 221 belonging to Bilaspur district alone, 150 cases of Dengue were found positive in Solan and two each in Tanda and Mandi areas.

Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur Vivek Bhatia told UNI on phone that the district administration continues taking precautionary steps after fumigating the most mosquito-prone areas in the district. He said with Monsoon vacation in the schools, the number of Dengue cases was likely to reduce. He said that Sports Authority of India decided to close down the Bilaspur Sports Hostel till the situation did not improve.

Meanwhile one case of Scrub Typhus was also found positive in the state rising number of case to 163. Mr Negi said that 43 samples were tested in the state today and one case was recovered positive for scrub typhus which is as the state is also Epidemic prone for this mysterious viral fever.

During this year one patients died of Scrub Typhus in Chamba as 163 cases were tested positive after conducted blood test of 3332 people . Most of cases of Scrub Typhus came from Bilaspur district as 58 patients found positive for this viral fever followed by 25 cases in Shimla , 20 in Kangra, 18 in Solan 15 in Hamirpur, 12 in Sirmaur, 10 in Chamba, three in Tanda, two in Mandi and one in Kullu respectively.
