1st scrub typhus death of year in Tanda Medical College

A seven-year-old child died of mite-born disease scrub typhus in Dr Rajinder Prasad Govt Medical College Tanda and six more patients suffering with same disease were undergoing treatment in the medical college.
Dr Deepali Sharma, Medical Superintendent DRPGMC Tanda, today told UNI that a seven year old child from Chamba district who tested positive for scrub typhus was admitted in the DRPGMC Tanda on September 1 and was under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and died today. She said that this was the first death due to scrub typhus in the medical college during the current year.Dr Deepali said 600 patients reported in the medical college during the current year with suspected scrub typhus symptoms and 73 of them tested positive out of them the first death was reported today. Last year there were nine deaths in DRPGMC Tanda due to scrub typhus seven of them in the month of September, 2016.
