Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that 14 medical colleges would be established in the capital region area here soon and basic infrastructure is being provided at a cost of Rs 34 crore.

Laying the foundation stone for the construction of Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham at Kuragallu village of Mangalagiri Mandal in Guntur district on Wednesday, he said that Rs.15,900 crore is being spent for providing basic amenities, Rs.19,600 crore was allocated for the construction of administration city in the new capital Amaravati. He said that the diversion of Kondaveeti vagu stream was taken up at a cost of Rs.1,450 crore.

The Chief Minister said that 14 medical colleges would be established in capital city and Amaravati would be developed as a medical hub and medical tourist centre. Mr Naidu expressed happiness for establishing Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham in Amaravati and stated that the institution earned reputation for providing quality education. He lauded the institution for standing in the forefront to provide free education to the students of poor. Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, Vice-Chairman, Mata Amritandanandamayi Math and President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Ministers K Srinivas, Ganta Sriniasa Rao, P Narayana and District Collector Kona Seshidhar were among those who are present.
