The Journal of Pediatrics Mar 08, 2020
Harbaugh CM, et al. - Via involving 1,047 youths (aged 14-24 years) by targeted social media advertisements to match national demographic benchmarks, researchers described current youth perspectives of prescription pain medication. Among 745 respondents, 439 identified as female, 561 as white, and the mean age was 18.3 ± 3.2 years. While young people are aware of the opioid crisis, they experience less risk than from other sources of prescription pain medication prescribed by a doctor. Policies will improve youth education in clinical and non-clinical settings emphasizing the dangers of addiction and all opioid overdose.
