Urology Aug 01, 2018
Mahran A, et al. - Researchers conducted a systematic search to evaluate the correlation between age and the risk of Gleason upgrading and biopsy progression in prostate cancer. Eligibility criteria was met by eight studies including 6,522 patients with median age of 65.8 (41-86) years. Respectively, the pooled odds ratio (OR) and Hazard ratio (HR) (CI 95%) for Gleason upgrading were 0.83 and 0.87, and for biopsy, progression was 0.80 and 0.88, per decade decrease in age. Overall, a lower risk of Gleason score (GS) upgrading and biopsy progression was seen in younger patients.
