Wound irrigation does not affect health-related quality of life after open fractures: Results of a randomized controlled trial

Sprague S, et al. - Researchers, herein, assessed the impact of wound irrigation solution (soap vs normal saline) and irrigation pressure (very low vs low vs high) on health-related quality of life (HRQL) in patients with open fractures. They found nil impact of both the composition of the irrigation solution as well as irrigation pressure on HRQL. At 12 months post-fracture, return to pre-injury HRQL was not reported in patients, irrespective of treatment.
