Wound discharge after pharmacological thromboprophylaxis in lower limb arthroplasty

Jones CW, et al. – This investigation was performed to assess the impact of various pharmacological thromboprophylaxis on postoperative wounds. Findings demonstrated that when aspirin or LMWH were used in arthroplasty patients, a marked increase in the risk of wound discharge was noted. It was suggested that while prescribing thromboprophylaxis for this patient group, a more balanced view of risk versus benefit needs to be taken.
