Wound culture isolated antibiograms and caregiver-reported skin care practices in children with epidermolysis bullosa
Pediatric Dermatology Nov 09, 2017
Singer HM, et al. - A determination was carried out of the patterns of antimicrobial resistance in epidermolysis bullosa (EB) wounds. In addition, this study entailed the characterization of the patient's home practices of skin care and bathing. Colonization was reported of various organisms, including resistant bacteria, in the wounds of patients with EB. Prevalence of mupirocin resistance was noted and more than half of the subjects reported its use. In the case of certain patients, investigation for mupirocin resistance could be considered. These observations could assist in formulating questions for additional trials with the intent of optimizing EB wound care recommendations.
