Worsening blood urea nitrogen and creatinine levels can predict length of hospital stay and 30-day readmission rate among patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction admitted for acute heart failure syndrome

Journal of Cardiac Failure Aug 17, 2017

Ghrair F, et al. – This study was designed to assess the utility of worsening blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine (Cr) levels as determinants of prognostic outcomes among hospitalized patients with acute heart failure syndrome and normal baseline kidney function. Findings demonstrated that in these subjects, worsening BUN ≥22 mg/dL and Cr ≥1.5 mg/dL could aid in predicting the length of stay and 30–day readmission rate, respectively.
