Worldwide trends in cervical cancer incidence and mortality, with predictions for the next 15 years
Cancer Aug 12, 2021
Lin S, Gao K, Gu S, et al. - Analyzing the most up-to-date data from official databases released by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, researchers identified a negative correlation of socioeconomic development with cervical cancer incidence and mortality.
Analysis was performed among 31 countries.
Over the most recent 10 years, most of the analyzed countries (26 countries were analyzed for incidence, and 30 were analyzed for mortality) showed stable or even lowering temporal trends; this was especially noted in those with effective cervical cancer screening programs.
For the next 15 years, the predicted trends were basically consistent with the trends seen among most countries analyzed in this study (19 countries for incidence and 26 countries for mortality).
