Withholding antibiotics does not reduce clinical pregnancy outcomes of natural cycle frozen embryo transfers
Fertility and Sterility Jan 14, 2021
Beshar I, Johal JK, Saravanabavanandhan B, et al. - Researchers sought to determine if and how withholding doxycycline impacts the success rate of natural cycle frozen embryo transfers (NC-FET) via performing this retrospective cohort study of women undergoing 250 NC-FET with euploid blastocysts. Comparison was performed between 125 NC-FET cycles performed after January 2019 without antibiotic administration and 125 NC-FET cycles performed before January 2019 with doxycycline administration. Findings of this analysis suggested no reduction in success rates in correlation with withholding doxycycline. Given the risks associated with antibiotics, these findings support withholding their use in NC-FET.
