Whole-body plethysmography and blood gas analysis in patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Respiration Aug 18, 2018
Dreher M, et al. - In this study of prospectively included patients undergoing coronary angiography for acute myocardial infarction (AMI), researchers determined the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and relevant pulmonary function test (PFT) impairments. According to findings, a general pulmonary workup is important in patients with AMI because these patients have a high prevalence of undiagnosed COPD and relevant pulmonary function impairments, and pulmonary disease was untreated in the majority of COPD patients. Since COPD patients had larger infarction size, screening for COPD should be performed in patients with coronary heart disease.
