Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica Dec 11, 2019
Marcon G, Monteiro GMC, Ballester P, et al. - A web-based survey was sent out to a total of 4,840 medical students in this study in order to recognize factors related to a history of suicide attempt in medical students. Female gender, homosexuality, low income, bullying by university peers, childhood, or adult trauma, family history of suicide, suicidal ideation within the last month daily tobacco use and being at severe risk for alcohol abuse were risk factors related to a past suicide attempt. A number of chief factors related to a history of suicide attempts among medical students was obtained. Moreover, these results show that among medical students, prevailing accessible information on suicide attempts could be used to make an absolute risk algorithm.
