Zhang Y, et al. - This study was designed to describe the settings of care in which antipsychotics that nursing home (NH) residents received were likely to have been initiated. Findings showed that most residents initiated antipsychotic therapy in NHs, this, in turn, corroborated the aptness of NH providers as primary target of interventions to reduce antipsychotic initiation in their residents. However, the reported continuation of many antipsychotics from other settings pointed towards a need to assess the necessity of continued antipsychotic treatment after such transitions of care.
