BMC Medicine Aug 10, 2017
Bunn F, et al. – This study focused on determining the vital mechanisms within varied interventions, likely to improve diabetes outcomes in people living with dementia (PLWD). The necessity of personalised care, continuity and family–centred approaches was outlined in this research, regardless of its limited evidence. A need arose for a flexible service model that prioritised quality of life, independence and patient and carer priorities. Additional studies were warranted with regard to the management of diabetes in older people with complex health needs, including those with dementia, needs to look at how organisational structures and workforce development could be better aligned to their needs.
