van der Helm JJ, et al. - Researchers performed a randomized controlled trial among urogenital chlamydia nucleic acid amplification test positive heterosexual clients of the Amsterdam sexually transmitted infection clinic to determine the optimal retest interval after urogenital chlamydia treatment. Observations revealed a high risk of recurrence of chlamydia among patients with a recent urogenital chlamydia and retesting them was an effective way of detecting chlamydia cases. They recommended retesting patients 8 weeks after the initial diagnosis and treatment.
