What is the effect on comorbid personality disorder of brief panic-focused psychotherapy in patients with panic disorder?
Depression and Anxiety Dec 12, 2017
Keefe JR, et al. - The authors performed this study to investigate the effect of brief panic-focused psychotherapy on comorbid personality disorders (PersD) in patients with panic disorder (PD). During psychotherapies focused on PD, PersD presenting in the context of primary PD rarely resolved, and change in PersD only moderately tracked panic improvements, indicating non-overlap of the constructs. Patients receiving panic-focused psychotherapies could require additional treatment for their PersD. At improving severe PersD, Panic-Focused Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PFPP) could be superior, but replication of this finding was needed.
