What are the benefits and risks of sharing patients diagnostic radiological images with them? A cross-sectional study of the perceptions of patients and clinicians in the UK

Cox WAS, et al. - Researchers intended to assess clinical experts’ and patients’ opinions on the benefits and risks of sharing patients’ diagnostic radiological images with them. This research was performed outside of primary and secondary care settings. They selected clinical experts at a UK national imaging and oncology conference, and individuals were enrolled via social media. They recruited 121 clinical experts including a total of 282 individuals. Further, they discounted 73 individuals and 10 clinical expert responses due to item non-response. They required 18 years old individuals at the time of participation. There is a request from individuals for access to their diagnostic radiological images alongside acknowledgment from clinical experts that there may be advantages available from this. Nevertheless, there is also a necessity to carefully manage this interaction due to the acknowledged risks.
