Weight change since age 20 and incident risk of obesity-related cancer in Japan: A pooled analysis of the Miyagi Cohort Study and the Ohsaki Cohort Study
International Journal of Cancer Nov 03, 2018
Wakamatsu M, et al. - In this pooled analysis of two prospective studies of residents in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, researchers studied the link between weight change during adulthood and the risk of obesity-related cancer. Participants included 78,743 individuals aged 40–79 years of the Miyagi Cohort Study in 1990 and in the Ohsaki Cohort Study in 1994. The multivariate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for obesity-related cancer incidence were estimated by using Cox proportional hazards regression analysis. Among Japanese women, a significantly increased risk of obesity-related cancer was observed in relation to weight gain since age 20, whereas, no link was found between weight change and incidence of obesity-related cancer in men.
