WATER - A double-blind randomized controlled trial of Aquablation vs. transurethral resection of the prostate in benign prostatic hyperplasia
The Journal of Urology Jan 26, 2018
Gilling P, et al. - This study entailed a comparative scrutiny of the safety and efficacy of Aquablation to transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Non-inferior symptom relief with a lower risk of sexual dysfunction was obtained via the surgical prostate resection using Aquablation compared to TURP. It was noted that larger prostates (50-80 mL) displayed a more pronounced superior safety and efficacy benefit. Longer-term follow-up would be beneficial in the analysis of Aquablation’s clinical value.
