Walking in relation to mortality in a large prospective cohort of older U.S. adults

American Journal of Preventive Medicine Oct 24, 2017

Patel AV, et al. - Data from a large U.S. prospective cohort study is used to assess the relationship between walking in relation to mortality. The outcome uncovered that the walking below the minimum recommended levels are related to lower all-cause mortality compared with inactivity in older adults. They also noted that the walking at or above physical activity recommendations is related to even greater reduced risk. Walking is simple, free, and does not require any training, and this is an ideal activity for most Americans, particularly as they age.
