Brown RE, et al. - The physicians performed this study to determine if adults would measure their own waist circumference (WC) and which WC site(s) were the most intuitive and easy to measure. In addition, they examined whether measurement accuracy and association between WC and blood pressure differed across 5 measurement sites. No clear clinical advantage was found in terms of blood pressure or practical advantage of measuring 1 WC site over another. However, the umbilicus could be the most intuitive and easy to measure.
