Bowen AJ, et al. - The purpose of this trial was to investigate the patient reported post-operative changes in voice or swallowing following hypoglossal nerve stimulator placement. No sustained, patient-reported changes were found in voice handicap and swallowing function due to the implantation and use of the hypoglossal nerve stimulator over 5 months. Though an advanced research was required, the yielded data of this study could provide additional informed consent for hypoglossal nerve stimulator implantation.
