Vitamin K status and physical decline in older adults--The Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam
Maturitas May 02, 2018
van Ballegooijen AJ, et al. - The association between vitamin K status and physical functioning over 13 years was investigated in the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA). Researchers performed a longitudinal cohort study of 633 community-dwelling adults, aged 55-65 years (54% women). They noted high plasma levels of desphospho-uncarboxylated matrix Gla protein (dp-ucMGP) to correlate with lower handgrip strength and with smaller calf circumference. Among women, lower scores for functional performance were noted in association with high dp-ucMGP levels.
