Aujla RS, et al. - This study entailed estimation of Vitamin D status of patients in 2 centres in the United Kingdom undergoing elective foot and ankle surgery. A normal Vitamin D level was detected in only 1 in 5.7 patients and gross deficiency was noted in 1 in 4.6. The factors that significantly influenced Vitamin D results included ethnicity and patient location. In addition, summer months were noted to demonstrate significantly the highest levels and August the highest. Notably, nil impact of age or gender on Vitamin D levels was seen.
