Vitamin D in the spectrum of prediabetes and cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction
The Journal of Nutrition Aug 09, 2017
Dimova R, et al. – This study was meant to shed light on the role of vitamin D in prediabetes and cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN). Researchers found that the causative link between vitamin D deficiency, glucose intolerance, and CAN remained debatable. However, data suggested that glucose tolerance and cardiovascular autonomic function can be improved with vitamin D supplementation and, cardiovascular mortality can be attenuated among subjects with different stages of glucose intolerance and autonomic dysfunction via vitamin D supplementation. However, more patient–centered trials on the use of vitamin D supplementation in different conditions are needed.
