Vitamin D for the treatment of multiple sclerosis: A meta-analysis
Journal of Neurology Oct 07, 2018
McLaughlin L, et al. - Experts conducted this meta-analysis to examine the role of therapeutic vitamin D in multiple sclerosis (MS). They performed a systematic search of databases to identify relevant studies evaluating vitamin D in patients with relapse–remitting MS, and included 12 clinical trials involving 950 individuals in the final analysis, which was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. They found that, in the treatment of MS, vitamin D supplementation may have a therapeutic role. However, they reported uncertainty with regard to the most appropriate dose, with high doses potentially being related to worse outcomes.
