Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Mar 16, 2021
Wang M, Zho Y, Yan Y., et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review and meta‐analysis to examine the connection between vitamin D levels and acne and if vitamin D supplements offers any benefit in acne treatment. They checked the PubMed, EMBASE, MEDLINE and the Cochrane libraries from every database start date until December 2020. Case‐controls or randomized controlled trial reporting on the serum 25(OH)D level and the effectiveness of vitamin D supplement to acne patients were involved. Findings revealed that acne patients have lower serum 25(OH)D levels. In addition, articles showed the possibility of supplementing vitamin D in acne patients being a therapeutic breakthrough. The research provides a new guide in the field of acne prevention and healthcare.
