Vitamin D binding protein and risk of renal cell carcinoma in the Cancer Prevention Study-II Cohort

Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Jul 27, 2018

Mondul AM, et al. - Researchers sought to reproduce the finding of a previous study indicating an inverse correlation between vitamin D binding protein (DBP) and risk of renal cell carcinoma. In this nested case-control study performed within the American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study-II Nutrition Cohort, they prospectively evaluated circulating DBP concentration and renal cell carcinoma risk. Findings established a statistically significant inverse correlation across quartiles of DBP, where patients with higher DBP had a distinctly reduced risk of renal cell carcinoma, which supports the findings from the previous study.
