BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Jul 19, 2020
Stafne SN, Mørkved S, Gustafsson MK, et al. - Researchers examined if and how levels of vitamin D are associated with urinary incontinence (UI) in pregnancy via performing a cross‐sectional study and secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial. Among a total of 851 participants comprising of healthy, pregnant women > 18 years in gestational weeks 18–22 with a singleton live fetus, 230 (27%) were vitamin D insufficient (25(OH)D < 50 nmol/l) and 42% reported to have any UI. Analysis revealed association of serum 25(OH)D < 50 nmol/l with raised risk of any UI, and stress UI in particular.
