Visit-to-visit B-type natriuretic peptide variability during the previous year has independent prognostic value in patients with stable chronic heart failure
Cardiology Jul 27, 2019
Kagiyama N, et al. - Researchers examined the prognostic value of visit-to-visit (V2V)-B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) variability during the stable period of chronic heart failure (CHF) regardless of BNP level. V2V-BNP variability, which was defined as the coefficient of variance of BNP values measured during 1 year before enrollment, was determined in 278 stable outpatients (75 ± 10 years; 65% male) with CHF. Analysis revealed worse long-term outcomes in correlation to V2V-BNP variability, even in the stable phase of CHF. This was observed independent of BNP level.
