Visceral infiltration of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is most prognostic after curative resection - Retrospective cohort study of 102 consecutive liver resections from a single center
International Journal of Surgery Jun 03, 2018
Bartsch F, et al. - All patients who underwent surgery for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) were prospectively recorded to assess the type of resection, operative details, histological results, morbidity, mortality, overall and recurrence-free survivals as well as prognostic factors. Researchers noted a high rate of R0 resections with an aggressive surgical approach, even in advanced ICC. Visceral infiltration was noted to be an independent predictor for OS after curative resection. The univariate analysis suggested N-stage, visceral infiltration and UICC stage as significant for OS. Independent predictors for RFS after resection of ICC included tumor size, N-stage, R-stage and M-stage.
