Videolaryngoscopy versus direct laryngoscopy for adult patients requiring tracheal intubation: A Cochrane Systematic Review
British Journal of Anesthesia | Sep 13, 2017
Lewis SR, et al. - This study analyzed the evidence comparing videolaryngoscopy with direct laryngoscopy in adults in terms of intubation failure and complications. In addition to displaying potential for improving glottic view and attenuating laryngeal/airway trauma, videolaryngoscopes may reduce the number of failed intubations, particularly among patients presenting with a difficult airway. No evidence was found for videolaryngoscope attenuating the number of intubation attempts or the incidence of hypoxia or respiratory complications or influencing time required for intubation.
