Veterans group exercise: A randomized pilot trial of an integrative exercise program for veterans with post-traumatic stress
Journal of Affective Disorders Nov 10, 2017
Goldstein LA, et al. - In this randomized pilot trial, the researchers assessed the effects of integrative exercise (IE) on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptom severity and quality of life, also evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of IE. They proposed that in order to treat veterans with symptoms of PTSD, IE was an innovative approach that reduced symptoms of posttraumatic stress and improved psychological quality of life. This approach to recovery could expand the reach of PTSD treatment into non-traditional settings and to veterans who likely prefer a familiar activity, like exercise, overmedication or psychotherapy.
