Vertical and rotational stiffness of coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction: A biomechanical study of 3 different techniques
Arthroscopy Feb 13, 2020
Celik H, Chauhan A, Flores-Hernandez C, et al. - Researchers sought to correlate the biomechanical stability of 3 different coracoclavicular reconstruction techniques under rotational and vertical loading applying a cadaveric model. The study used 12 cadaveric shoulders for testing. Both the coracoid loop and single-bundle methods showed significantly less internal scapular rotation stiffness. In all techniques, external scapular rotation stiffness was significantly reduced. Compared with the native state, none of the described techniques provided equivalent rotational stability in all planes. The outcomes of this study suggested that double-bundle reconstruction showed stiffness characteristics closest to the native state under cyclic loading during internal scapular and posterior clavicular rotation.
