Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation devices-related colonisations and infections

Thomas G, et al. - This study focused on the nosocomial infections directly associated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) devices. At the time of ECMO removal, the rate of both colonisations and infections related to ECMO devices were estimated and it was found that infection rate related to ECMO devices was quite low, and systematic blood culture and intravascular extremity cannula culture may assist the detection of these infections.
