Venous thromboembolism in pediatric hematopoietic cell transplant: A multicenter cohort study

Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation Nov 14, 2017

Rangarajan HG, et al. - A multicenter retrospective study was performed to analyze the prevalence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in a large cohort of patients who underwent hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) at tertiary-care US children's hospitals. Observations revealed a prevalence of VTE of about 7% in these patients. Significant pre-HCT VTE risk factors were age ≥ 13 years and allogeneic grafts. Graft versus host disease and infections were observed more frequently in patients with VTE.
