Venous thromboembolism in patients with sarcoma: A retrospective study
The Oncologist Oct 01, 2018
Alcindor T, et al. - In this retrospective case-control study, researchers assessed the clinical features of patients with sarcoma presenting with at least one venous thromboembolism (VTE) episode. Patients with sarcoma who were identified from a single-institution database showed an overall VTE incidence of 7.9%. Upon multivariate analysis, metastatic disease and administration of chemotherapy were identified as predictive factors. Observations suggested the highest propensity with malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, osteosarcoma, and liposarcoma. Researchers recommended adoption of common guidelines for cancer-associated thrombosis.
